Vishnuvardhan (18 September 1950 – 30 December 2009) was a renowned Indian film actor who primarily worked in Kannada cinema. He was born as Sampath Kumar in Mysore, Karnataka, India.
Vishnuvardhan made his acting debut in 1972 with the film “Vamshavruksha”. He went on to act in over 220 films in a career spanning more than three decades. Some of his notable films include “Nagarahavu”, “Jeevana Chaitra”, “Muthina Haara”, “Bandhana”, “Sahasa Simha”, “Suryavamsha”, “Mathad Mathad Mallige”, “Hombisilu”, “Suprabhatha”, “Suprabhata” and “Aptha Rakshaka”.
Vishnuvardhan was a versatile actor and was known for his natural acting style. He won several awards for his performances, including the National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film “Bangarada Manushya”. He was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1983 for his contributions to Indian cinema.
Vishnuvardhan passed away on 30 December 2009 due to a heart attack. He continues to be remembered as one of the finest actors in the history of Kannada cinema.
