The Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation has launched the Ganga Kalyana Yojana Karnataka.

The scheme aims to provide irrigation facilities to the beneficiaries by drilling borewells or digging open wells on their agricultural land and installing pump sets and accessories.

The state government has allocated Rs 1.50 lakh and Rs 3 lakh for individual borewell projects, with an additional Rs 50,000 for borewell drilling, pump set supply, and electrification deposit under the Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme.

A subsidy of Rs 3.5 lakh will be provided to districts such as Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, and Tumkur, and a subsidy of Rs 2 lakh will be provided to other districts.

The scheme will benefit farmers owning land near rivers by drawing pipelines from water sources and installing pump motors and accessories.

The Karnataka State Government has fixed the unit cost of Rs 4 lakhs for up to 8 acres of land and Rs 6 lakhs for 15 acres of land.

Only small or marginal farmers belonging to minority communities in the state can apply for the scheme.

The state government will provide proper irrigation facilities to farmers using perennial water sources or lifting water through pipelines. If such sources are not available, the corporation will provide loans for borewell construction at water points.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail the benefits of this scheme, the applicant must belong to the minority community and be a permanent resident of Karnataka.

Additionally, the scheme requires that the applicant must be a small or marginal farmer.

For farmers residing in urban areas, the annual family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 96,000 to Rs. 1.03 lakh.

Moreover, the applicant’s age must be between 18 to 55 years.
