Belawadi Mallamma

A brave woman from Belawadi in North Karnataka, Mallamma actively  participated in the Kittur Uprising of 1824 led by Rani Chennamma.

A freedom fighter hailing from Bellary, Siddamma took part in various protests and movements against British rule in Karnataka. 

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay 

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay made significant contributions to the freedom struggle and cultural renaissance in the state. 

Keladi Chennamma 

A queen of the Keladi Nayaka dynasty, Keladi Chennamma is remembered for  her resistance against the Mughal invasion in the 17th century. 

Kittur Rani Chennamma 

Perhaps one of the most celebrated freedom fighters from Karnataka,  Kittur Rani Chennamma led the Kittur Uprising against the British East  India Company in 1824. 

Onake Obavva 

Onake Obavva, the wife of a soldier in the army of Chitradurga, played a  significant role in the defense of the fort during the siege by Hyder  Ali's forces. 

Rani Abbakka Chowta 

The queen of Ullal in the 16th century, Rani Abbakka Chowta is known for  her resistance against Portuguese colonial forces on the western coast  of Karnataka. 

Sarojini Mahishi 

Sarojini Mahishi, though more known for her later role in advocating for  the rights of Kannadigas, was also actively involved in the Quit India  Movement. 

Umabai Kundapur 

Umabai Kundapur, a social reformer and freedom fighter, played a crucial role in the Bhoodan Movement in Karnataka.
